DIY Healthy Latte (Fall Edition!)
If you read any of my How To Afford To Be A Stay At Home Mom series, you know that I took at look at my where every single penny was going to. Surprisingly, we were spending a combined total of $100 a month on coffee and coffee shop items between Tristan and I!
We instantly got a coffee maker, and started making it at home. Because, yikes.
It got really basic, really fast.
When I want a pick- me- up and fancy coffee, without wanting to spend $5+, this is my go- to recipe!
Teaspoon- tablespoon of organic, cold pressed coconut oil. (the amount used is based on your desired creaminess.)
You can use butter, not margarine, for a rich coffee. If you do not have coconut oil or butter, you can also just use cream.
Coffee of choice.
I personally brew my own coffee with whatever is on sale from our grocery store! You are welcome to use cold brew, although this works best with warm coffee to melt coconut oil!
Sweetener of choice
I do not use sweetener, but on occasion I will use local honey, or stevia. The best part of this recipe is you can control how much you use!
Spices + extracts.
If you have been following my recipes for any amount of time, you know that I am a vanilla and cinnamon addict! I add them to every latte.
Since it is pumpkin spice latte season, I always add pumpkin spice to my lattes for an extra fall feeling!
Pour your mug with the desired amount of coffee, leaving about 2 inches from the brim.
Pour your mug of coffee into your blender device.
Add in your coconut oil, sweetener, and extracts to the coffee. I use vanilla!
note: I personally wait to add pumpkin spice or cinnamon until the end. They don’t blend the best!
Blend until the coconut oil is completely blended (usually 5-10 seconds)
note: the longer you blend, the more frothy it gets
Pour the mixture into your mug, and add any spices on top that you would like!
Drink + enjoy!
